There's only 2 spiders in GA that you need to worry about. They are the Black Widow and Brown Recluse. Both of them can cause serious damage.

This used to be true, but lately we're bring over-run by brown widow spiders.

I can confirm that these are around in large numbers, and can probably find one in my yard in 5 minutes if anyone wants a pic.
