I don't see the big problem with Phil's laydown with AQ? Unless Doyle is bluffing, Phil would have to put Doyle all-in on what he probably assumes is a coinflip most of the time. It just isn't Phil's style to commit his entire stack preflop and with the stack sizes at the time, I think he'd even fold anything up to pocket 9s there. Doyle knows this, which is probably the reason he made this move... as someone already said, Doyle is playing the player. Doyle definitely isn't making this move against Barry or Gus. This small ball style though is why Hellmuth does well in tournaments.

The 77 hand is more questionable as what could Doyle realistically have, but again that fold fits Phil's sort of style. The 96 call seemed bad though, especially given it was T.J.
