If you use Media Center, then yes you can record one and watch the other. Media Center sees the HVR-1600 as two cards. Unfortunately, I cannot give anecdotal advice with that, because I use XP x64bit and the proprietary WinTV2000 that comes with the card. The quality however is impeccable, and I will recommend this card to anyone. I bought it for $64 after shipping, just had to wait for the rebate. Retail is in the mid $80's. IMO, there is no comparative card, even up to $150.
