Default Golf

Any golf fanatics here? How did you get into it, where are your favorite courses, got any tips?

I've played 18 holes once before and have hit a few buckets of balls at the driving range with friends but have never done anything serious. Now that I'm back East (Williamsburg, VA) I've found I have more free time during the day and want to pick up a new hobby so I decided I'm going to take up golf. I picked up a cheap set of Wilson clubs and some golf shoes from Dick's just so I can hit some balls around and then after some lessons I will get my swing analyzed and pick up some new clubs (this is what a friend recommended?).

I'm always up for traveling so I googled golf schools to see if I found anything interesting somewhere cool but I didn't really, so I think I'm going to call up a local country club tomorrow and ask for some private lessons.

Here in Williamsburg there are a few golf options. I've never been to any of these courses but from what I've heard here's an approximate ranking in terms of niceness:

1.) Kingsmill http://www.kingsmill.com/

2.) Ford's Colony http://www.fordscolony.com/Williamsb...andingPage.cfm

3.) Williamsburg Country Club http://www.williamsburgcountryclub.com/

4.) Kiskiack Golf Club http://www.traditionalclubs.com/view...&page=9331

don't know anything about this one but it looks nice:

None of the country clubs seems to post their prices on their web site except for Williamsburg Country Club, where the membership looks like it is $155/month w/ waived initiation fee. This seems like a bargain to me and while it doesn't look quite as nice as say Kingsmill, it's in a good location and looks adequate. Money isn't a deciding factor though so I'd probably want to play a round or two at some of the other clubs before deciding where to get a membership I guess.

Anyways any suggestions on how to get started would be great as well as ya'lls golf stories.
