A bigger winner will most likely have larger variance than a smaller winner regardless of type of strategy employed.
The reason for this is that as your average winrate increases all the hands that you don't play will increase the sum of squares. Same will hold true for all the big pots a big winner will have..those will increase variance as your winrate might be something like 0.1bb (per hand of course) while there are a lot of 50-100 bb pots that you have won.
