Default Does LAG play decrese variance?

I'm new to the game of Omaha, so bear with me please.

It seems to me when you you play a more TAG type game in Omaha where there are fewer and smaller advantages, you are more likely to hit bad beats. This seems especially true in large multi person pots because people can draw with decent odds.

LAG play would seem to get around this by managing the variance. You play more pots as a total %, thereby hitting some beats and delivering others. It also seems that there is a lot more dead money in Omaha tham in other games which would give you more fold equity overall.

From my personal experience, whenever I would try and play tighter (seeing 30% or less of my flops) it would always seem to backfire on me in that I would get less action and eventually I would get stomped by some horrendous bad beat (I don't need to tell the stories, but set over set, larger boat, quads on the river, etc). A couple good days of play would be ruined by a day of constant losing (my worst was -20 buyins).

Any thoughts on this?
