I'm with you that the telling people that you play poker is tough. But really, it's all a matter of delivery. To me it sounds like a confidence problem. You're obviously the man on the tables, so just be that off them too. And since girls go for a man with confidence over just about anything else, just be fairly upfront about it, and don't make any excuses for it.

I'm not saying being more relaxed and confident will make the problem go away, but it will take some weight off your shoulders, and make talking to them about it a lot easier. While some girls will always have a negative reaction to the poker, they're still more likely to pick up on your attitude towards it.

Eh, we've never chatted before, so you're probably couldn't give two [censored] about my thoughts here, but I've been there too, and though the problem hasn't gone away for me, it is much better than it used to be... much better.
