I think there should be more emphasis on post-flop play because that it where most of your value comes from . But since we're on this topic I'll say a few things .

1)Making a 2X raise is good against a re-raise or fold type of player . When he re-raises you , then you lose a bit less if you decide to fold .

Another advantage is that some players think that if you give them 3:1 then they should call with any two cards . You become the beneficiary of their mistakes if they call with any two .

If your opponent would call with inferior hands to yours , then you should increase the size of your raises . If I have a-8 and my opponent will call any raise with a wide range of hands , then I'd probably increase the size of my raises just enough so that he would call .
