I have to agree with ZeTurd on his Vai selections. Passion And Warefare, and Alien Love Secrets are must haves. I haven't been able to get into anything he has done since ALS, but that is just me.
For Satch, you can't go wrong with Surfing With The Alien. I also really like Engines Of Creation.
