Whatever you gain in the value of having as much as possible you lose in your table image. It's +EV not to let people at your home game know how serious you are.

Instead, become comfortable playing the short stack. Use it while you experiment with loosening up your game. Benefit is if you bust out, you can buy in for full without any problems. You have an edge here, right? After a bit of the wild crazy loose short stack period at the beginning, a lot of those chips on the table will come back to you, and you won't have to worry about topping off for the rest of the night.
