OMG! This is pure GOLD. On so many levels.

Is this how Michael Kay usually is on ESPN radio? I must listen to him more. And here all along I thought he was just some idiot baseball announcer. My level of respect for his broadcasting just went up from about a 3 to a 6.

LOL at that whole scene, but ESPECIALLY LOL at the other radio guy. Very entertaining.

P.S. Does anyone know when this took place?

Yeah, Kay does get into it with boneheaded fans -- particularly the shortsighted and superstitious types. Kay basically won the "don't talk about a no-hitter/perfect game" fight at least as far back as 1998 when he and Sterling began talking about David Wells pitching a perfect game by the second inning (ok, maybe the fifth inning) with no apparent effect on the game. \

Kay can be an idiot -- but I have to think being a baseball announcer is very challenging. You are on the air for 500 hours a year -- and that is just during the game. Given the nature of baseball, there is a lot of time to kill (I figure about 87.75% of the time).

I would certainly prefer Michael Kay any day over the current radio pairing of Sterling and Waldman or the FOX number one team of Buck and McCarver. (Are they still doing the World Series?)
