Re: first donkament you\'ve ever won?
First time that I went to Vegas four months after turning 21, I brought $600 and thought that would last me five days. Played maybe two hours a night, still lost all but $100 by my last day.
So I entered a daily donkament at the MGM Grand for $85 (leaving me $15 for a cab to the airport and souveniers... like matchbooks or napkins). I thought I missed my chance when they told me I was alternate #23, because I thought that meant I'd have to be lucky enough for 23 people to somehow forget that they registered. I quickly discovered this wasn't the case when the 23rd person was knocked out.
Get KK third hand to double up and catch up to the others, got lucky a sufficient amount of times (1010>AA, then AQ>AK on final table), made best call of my life with K4off when heads up, ship $2400.
Additional Brag: When I was walking away two girls stopped me and said "We were rooting for you." Beat: I said "Thanks" and kept walking. Variance: I like girls.
