The number has significance for him. I've forgotten what it is (the numbers adding up to 8 I think?), but I wouldn't be surprised if he keeps that number.

His best friend died of cancer when he was 8. The story I read made it seem like it's not the 62 that's significant, just the fact that it adds up to 8. So 53, 35, etc. would also be OK.
