Default Quick question about protecting your hand

Just a silly question about protecting a TPTK hand: can the board be too wet to do it?

Example:

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1 BB (6 handed)

CO ($97.15)
Button ($101.30)
SB ($98.21)
BB ($136.85)
UTG ($116.60)
Hero ($114.81)

Assume loose/passive villain.

Preflop: Hero is MP with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $3.5</font>, CO calls $3.5, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>.

Flop: ($8.50) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $7.5</font>, CO calls $7.5.

Turn: ($23.50) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
Hero...

Normally I would bet, or is this simply too threatening a flop to protect against?
