Default Re: How much table talk is too much?

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm a little surprised how pro-chat everyone here is. I put this to a friend/pro who said I needed to nip it all. His point is this: we are not a group of pre-existing friends who happen to play poker; we are people coming together for the purposes of poker. Both of us feel I have some obligation to protect the weaker and/or newer player, who may not feel comfortable speaking up.

I'm talking things like, "oh, betting that overpair, huh?" or "ooh, your flush draw came in" or "he definitely has the wheel".

Like I said, I dig the chatter, but that's because it mostly helps me. Not sure how I'd feel if I was in a pot with a straight flush against quads and someone decided to share his read on me, tho'. I suppose that's results-oriented thinking and long-term I'll benefit from knowing there's a read, but still.

So where do you draw the line? Anywhere?
