The only time I've played Limit O8 is in the Mirage, where I'd agree with pretty much everything that's been said about tipping (and about it being the nittiest game ever).
When I've played private (illegal - tipping is forbidden in the casinos till September) games here in the UK, it has always been PLO8, and the standard tip has been about £2 for any profit, £5 for a decent scoop (say £100+), and nothing for anything less.
These games have no rake, but there is an hourly charge (£5 for £2/£2 blinds) which obviously changes things.
