Default Re: Living and Playing in Vegas

[ QUOTE ]
How about Denver? Great weather, mountains for hiking and skiing, cost of living is good. We have poker in Blackhawk which is 45 minutes from Denver. Good NL tournaments.

Oh gawd no, not Denver. I'm stuck in this poker wasteland of no fold 'em hold 'em, and am hoping to escape myself ... soon. Worst part about the tournaments here, is that the no fold 'em Hold 'em bingo poker mentality invades the Tournaments here as well.

Nothing like driving a danged hour in both directions, and get you aces cracked after raising it up 6 times the BB preflop, and having some donkey call you with Q/3 suited, simply because it's suited (and because they are used to here in Denver, playing any to cards to the flop, and sometimes all the way to the river).

I've done the single parent thing myself, and it's not easy. I moved from the Chicago area (Brookfield to be exact) to Cincinnati, when my son was 14, because the Chicago area wasn't a good place to raise kids, and especially not all alone.

I would suggest that the OP either move to San Diego, or he might also consider Memphis, TN. At least in Memphis, TN, he'd have Tunica (MS), just a short hop, skip and a jump away from him to play at the many casinos there that have poker. Plus, you don't have the traffic problems that San Deigo has, and it's cheaper to live and still a good place to raise kids.

Edit: to the OP, One last thing to consider as well, as one (former, as my son is now grown) single parent to another, be sure you have a good support system in place (IE: Friends to care for your child, if say you have to go out of town on Business, or you get sick and are hospitialized or something of the like), where ever you decide to move to. It's imparitive that you do, because if you don't, it'll cause you mass headaches and problems later on down the road.
