for limit the general rule is 300BB for your limit. so with 100, u could possibly start out at .25/.5 LHE,(200BB) and once you have a bankroll of 300$, you know you can beat that game, take shots at higher, rinse repeat...
but nothing is set in stone , just a general guideline.
