In live cash games you do not have to show your cards, and stars changed it to this after a year or so at customers' requests. If you played on stars back in 2000 or so, you would have seen some ridiculous all in calls. Like 44 calling allin on a AKKJ suited board. Then 3 or so players (maybe a couple of railbirds, too) would comment on the call making the player feel like the idiot he is. That's a good reason not to display the hole cards in cash games.

In Live cash games you can ask to see what the player mucked. The dealer will touch the cards to the muck and then show. Some casinos the person in the hand has to ask, others anyone at the table that was dealt in can ask to see them.
Ive seen guys grab the cards out of the dealers hands and throw the cards down so people couldnt see....Then they get thrown out
