this post may get more replies in the full ring forum. i dont play full ring but i would think that preflop you either have to raise it or fold it. as played, i think on the flop raising about 3x his bet is better than calling, as i put most of his range in over cards. then if he calls and checks to you on turn you can probably take it away, but if he calls and then bets the turn into you i think its an easy fold
