I don't know how everyone in this thread has ignored Carver. In terms of development and sheer force, the guy is amazing. While I agree other characters in the show have better lines and more snappy dialog, Carver's scenes are the true [censored]. He evolved from a lazy [censored] into an effective police who really does care. He's still got awesome lines and his scenes with Herc over the years have really shown a broad range. If anyone exemplifies the good of the show, it's either Carver or Bunny. And Carver's better.

I cannot stand Carver. He has irked me from the beginning. That scene where he and Herc are driving to pick up Bodie from the juvy prison makes me want to gouge out my eyeballs.
