The reason people "overestimate AK" is because it fairs much better against most ranges, but not in hypotheticals where people are put on unrealistic ranges.

No. It depends on opening ranges and optimal play is very different a +EV play. Open shoving AA is correct here as well if open shoving AK is correct.
