Seems to me that it's pretty similiar to the current batch of Germans: Poker becomes popular in a country, lots of people join, want to get better, most fail, repeat. It's being done in a slightly more organised way (like pokerstrategy.de I imagine), but more people playing poker is no bad thing.

Koreans are not naturally better at learning how to play poker than non-Koreans. They're not naturally better at learning how to play Starcraft either, it was just unique social conditions that led to it. There are no top Korean Quake or CS players, for example.
