I think your position makes this an awfull reverse implied odds situation. Villain is a nit who will cold call you preflop with things like PPs and suited connectors. He is extremely tight. So you have to assume that you are being taken to value-town and will have to pay another bet or even a push on the river (next time please don't include that he checked behind on the river and might have been trying to take the pot away from you with a pair smaller than split As). I think you call down against the wrong guy.
