Default Re: Live Updates of the Laak vs Computer Match HERE

What's a 5% edge mean? Since most decisions are no brainers (find a raise with top pair, fold if you miss the flop), it sounds like a lot.

It could be tough to see the game was 52.5% vs. 47.5%, that's a 5% edge, but he must have seen some weak plays and calculated the overall effect of them being that 5%.

If that computer did not adjust (like the one now doesn't) then it's a wonder if he did not have at least a 5% edge until optimal strategy really can't be beaten; e.g. call always or never or anything in-between and the result will be the same, and if one is not playing optimally then one is losing, it just being a matter of how much one is losing, and that's why good players play optimally and can't be beaten as long as they mix it up at least with draws and pairs.

Though when I know a person is not too much out of line it's easy to save money against him, but if it would be an optimal computer seeing that, it couldn't do it - but it still doesn't lose if optimal strategy doesn't lose -- that leads to an another point and that is its inability to win; it just being able to not to lose other than the amount of its "bugs."
