becauase it might get hands to fold, and if youre not going to bet the turn then you save money by betting bigger on the flop and c/folding the turn, than you do betting less on the flop and then betting again on the turn only to c/fold on the river

Getting better hands to fold is like when we have 88, and the flop is AJ2 and we want JT to fold.

There are no better hands that are folding this flop when you bet, just worse ones.
