Yeah, he made money until things blew up The hole looks easier than it is and the guy laying the odds had a good idea of what they should be. He knew his way around a golf bet. The 4 par 3s at Wellshire actually do a decent job showing some of Donald Ross's ideas I think, but that is probably another post. I wish I paid attention to that stuff when I played there a lot. Not Ross's best or anything, but the course has some interesting features.
Anyway, this happened in the '80s, I want to say 1983 or 1984, so it was a while ago.
