kinda like the football rule that a stoppage in time due to injury means that player has to sit out the next play. I like it.

Sorry to hijack, but the NFL rule is way too lax. One play is not nearly enough of a deterrent to stop guys from faking injuries against a hurry-up offense.

It should have been changed years ago when Willie McGinnest blatantly faked an injury against the Colts and then made the game ending tackle at the goal line seconds later, and celebrated by sprinting to midfield. The most interesting part of it was that in the reply of the "injury" you could see Ty Law faking an injury as well but then he suddenly stops when he realizes that McGinnest is already doing it, making it clear that the Patriots had been coached to abuse this rule.

You are charged a time-out under 2 minutes if you are injured, fake or not. If you are out of timeouts I think they run time off the clock or something to stop this. Ie. this isn't an option anymore.

You are charged a timeout if you have one. If you don't have one, then the player must leave the game for 1 play. There is no time runoff because it wouldn't make any sense. Why would the offensive team want a time runoff?

Faking an injury to get everyone else on your team time to rest and go to the sideline for coaching/water remains very much an option in the NFL.
