Blarg brought up another great point. Somewhere during the 90s fighters, belt holders especially, started fighting once, maybe twice a year. During the 80s champions fought sometimes 4, sometimes 6 or more times a year. The days of seeing a fighter with 100 fights under his belt are long gone.

Don King, with the help of Tyson changed the face of boxing forever, and not in a good way. Champions were able to dodge contenders, belts were split into unholy fraudulent organizations, and pay per view became the only way to see a title fight.
