I think you should hedge in the sportsbook, by taking a dog at long odds, and taking the favorite at another book, which will hopefully transfer most (or all) of your $850 to the other sportsbook (if and when the favorite wins).

This is just as risky. Moreso if you think the risk of grimming increases with balance size.
