The Wire was definitely pretty slow. I stuck it out until somewhere during the third season. I was watching them in my bed so it wasn't the best environment for getting into it.

On the other hand, I watched the final 5 episodes of Dexter in one night.

Deadwood = best show ever
Futurama = best cartoon ever
House = great show (if you are/want-to-be an [censored] to everyone you meet)

If you are interested in nature documentaries or anything like stuff the Discovery Channel shows, BBC had a series called Planet Earth that you can get in a 5-DVD set. I've watched a few of the discs so far and some of the footage is unbelievable. I'd recommend this to anyone I think could stomach the attack scenes.
