Completing the SB with this hand is totally standard. Raising and folding are both awful, raising slightly less so.
I bet out on the flop since you have top pair good kicker, and you likely have the best hand. Cutoff and button would have raised with KJ+; you're only likely behind JT or 44, and it's unlikely either of them has those. I bet again on the turn if called and the board texture doesn't change significantly.
