Re: Dealer changing mid-hand
I was dealing once. As soon as I spread the flop, another dealer ran up behind me, yelling, "Get up! Get up!"
I thought maybe there was something under my chair, so I stood.
"Drop the deck!"
Now I thought there was something under my chair, and it was on fire. I dropped the deck in a way to make it retrievable. There was nothing under my chair, and I was thoroughly confused.
"Go see the floorman."
The floorman was at the front podium. He wasn't smiling. He was holding the telephone receiver, indicating that I had a phone call.
It was midnight. I've never received good news by telephone, at midnight, in the middle of a hand I was dealing.
It was my wife, calling me from a parking lot as she watched a building burn down. The building we lived in, of course.
I think that's an example of a GOOD reason to push a dealer in the middle of a hand. It's a very short list.
(This was a while ago. Nobody was hurt, and nothing that couldn't be replaced was lost.)
