everyone, i will now enlighten,
about 2-3 years ago, things changed in the bong world. people realized it is retarded to use rubber gaskets which a) arent airtight. and b) start to smell bad.
so, instead of rubber gaskets they just ground the glass so that another piece can be joined to it to make an airtight seal. my last bong was like this. the outside part of the bowl bottom is frosted and the inside of the downstem is frosted. this way you put the two ends together, twist a tiny bit and then you have a perfect seal. That looks to be what is going on here. also vaporizers4lifeholla.
