In situations like this I like to imagine how harvey keitel's character from Pulp Fiction would handle it. I'm thinking pull your friend aside, calmly whisper to him something like
"what the [censored] are you doing. You're going to stop, sit here for a second, then come back to the group and apologize to me. And I'm not going to ask twice"
something like that?
