A lot of people are forgetting just how many good centers there were in the league when Oates had his best years - would you take Oates over Yzerman, Lemieux, Gretzky, Lafontaine, P. Turgeon, Francis, Statsny, Fedorov, etc.? These guys didn't have as long a career, but they were certainly better players during Oates' peak.

It's funny, I don't follow the NHL, but when I read this thread, I thought, "really? I always avoided his team in the NHLPA/NHL '93-'97 games because he sucked compared to Yzerman, Federov, Lemieux, Roenick, etc."
