I think this might be one of those counterintuitive thingys. It appears that you really need to have a low and back in to the high.
I might be completely mistaken but it appears that big pairs, other than Aces, suck in this game. Probably because so many people are drawing to a low, they often back into a straight or a flush. I am still a member of the clueless majority so take all of this with a grain of salt.

Big pairs other than Aces do suck on Stud8. But they sucked worse without a qualifier.
