Default Re: Badly played set?

raise the flop

[ QUOTE ]
Is raising here a better play?
His bet seemed weak and I kinda didnt want to loose a 3rd guy.

Turn: ($5.60) 9 (3 players)
UTG+1 bets $2, Hero raises to $6, MP2 folds, UTG+1 calls $4.

Ummm, going for a 4BB/$1 overcall on the flop is begging T8 to call because he knows top two or a set will pay him the 10.75:1 odds (i.e., the 80BB you still have behind after you called the $1 bet, not to mention the stack of the flop aggressor) he needs to be getting with his gutshot.

Also, as in your example, he's folding the turn UI anyway. Every once in a while he'll improve to two pair, but just as often the perfect flush/straight combo card comes (say he's holding A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]), giving him ~15 extra outs and making a call on the turn getting >2:1 real odds the correct play.

Bottom set on a semi-coordinated board can turn into bottom set on a fully coordinated board real fast. (pun kinda intended)
