I think this is interesting as I have read SSH several times. Now that I am focusing on playing a lot more limit than nl or tournaments, I have reread HPFAP for the first time. There are several things that are stated in HPFAP that do not go along with the theory that is presented by SSH. In SSH, the primary theme is to put in as much money as possible when you have a greater amount of equity than the amount of players in the pot. More fish mean that there are more people playing poorly post flop and as such, you will have more people calling down in situations with equity disadvantages. It stands to reason then that you will win more money due to the fact that there is consistantly more money in the pot when you have an equity edge. So for me, the optimum number of poor players would be as many as possible.
