hypothetical:

you get back home from school for the summer.

you are hanging out with your best friend and some new people at his place (the new people includes a girl).

anyways, the friend is going to germany for a month and he talks to you before he leaves and it comes up that he's interested in hooking up with the girl.

you move 30 minutes away form where your friends live for the summer (while the best friend is gone) and happen to live near the girl.

you start hooking up with the girl.

is this a serious problem for the relationship?

if it changes anything, you and the girl end up dating for a long time and having a somewhat committed serious relationship.
