I am a Player. Unfortunately I play at Foxwoods where they pool their tips so that type of action would be completely meaningless. I generally tip more than $1 when there is a huge pot (like >$250).

I haven't really run into any nasty dealers, or even dealers with a sense of entitlement. But there was one dealer who was so slow and incompetent that I would have withheld tips from her if it wasn't Foxwoods - just to discourage her from being a dealer.

And I like your idea of rewarding dealers who are amazing/fun to be around. I would do this (and have done this at Commerce) even if you can't find dealers with really bad attitudes to compensate.
