Buy tickets before you get there.

If it is a weekday day game you can probably get near face value tickets on ebay. For any other game expect to pay above face value. I recommend ebay as stubhub is way too expensive (unless you find someone trying to move them at the last minute).

All the seats at Yankee stadium are pretty good. Sitting in the back of the box seats kinda sucks. The upper tier seats are actually a good view. You sort of hang over the field. If you have problems with heights, as my mother does, it can get tricky up there.

You can watch all over batting practice. I believe they open the gates 2 hours before the game. You cannot go into the lower section (the expensive seats) unless you have tickets there, but you can easily see the players and yell at them no problem from behind there. Also you can get right up on the outfield wall by the foul poles and tell Mo' how much you love him while he is shagging fly balls.
