"Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas" is terrific and a must-read for everyone IMO. If you really get into it check out "The Rum Diary" by HS Thompson. It's a different feel but also an excellent read.
Edit: I should add that "Fear & Loathing" probably sucks a lot more if you haven't had a period of complete drug-addict degeneracy in your life (or at least rampant, irresponsible drug use for several months/years), "The Rum Diary" is much more accessible although not as good IMO as F&LiLV.
