I mean what if BB has A6, QJ, a gutshot or something? You can't blame him later for outdrawing you. He can make a profitable call after you call."

They will call on the flop anyway, so he can't protect the hand, plus he gets another bet in on the turn, which may not have happened otherwise. I think waiting for the turn to raise was good.

Then bet the river as well.
