Default UFO: Extraterrestrials

Got it. Like it so far.

Money is more of an issue in UFO:ET than XCOM. You can't manufacture things and sell them for profit. Also, selling alien artifacts that you haven't yet researched means they sell for much less. Especially in the early game, you have to pay attention to money issues (scientists and engineers cost a lot of money if working, but nothing if sitting around drinking coffee).

Obviously the graphics are more up-to-date than XCOM, and the aliens look more intimidating. But at the same time, it lacks something that XCOM had. I had tons of high-tension times with XCOM:TFTD, with those damned giant brains that floated silently around zapping my guys and turning them into zombies.

I'm still very early into UFO:ET, so maybe they have some creepy stuff in store, but there just seems to be something missing atmosphere-wise.

Good news is that it's very mod-friendly, so if there's some aspect of the game that ruins if for you, you can usually find a mod that allows you to change it.
