Im not sure if things have changed for Canadians but as of a few months ago, we would have had to go out and purchase the item and then stars would reimburse us.
having the above mentioned gift cards would be so much better for many of us, if we could just order them and get them sent to us, without the hassle of having to buy x amount of gift cards on our own.
