Frets on Fire is an awesome (and free) Guitar Hero clone for the PC.
You might feel like an idiot at first when you're holding your keyboard like a guitar, but you soon forget about it as you start rocking out to your favourite tune! [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]
The game only comes with three free tracks; so you'll need to download other songs separately. All of the Guitar Hero songs and many others are available from your favourite torrent sites (
uTorrent is a great client if you don't already have one) or from some Google searching.
There are lots of mods available that alter FoF's appearance and gameplay. The most popular is
RF Mod which adds two player, fixes some bugs, and makes the game look and feel a lot more like Guitar Hero. A guy from the
Frets on Fire forums kindly put together a
mod starter pack that includes RF Mod and a few other gems to get noobs started quickly.
On my keyboard I had to change the 'pick' key to Enter (the small one by the numpad) rather than Return, as not all chord combinations were working. You can test the different chord combinations in the keyboard setup screen to find the 'fret' and 'pick' keys that work on your keyboard.
