Had a similar situation just a few days ago. Throwed away my AK. The others showed JJ and AQ. Flop came AKT. "Damn I would have flopped two pair". Turn was blank but the River was another J busting the set of Jacks with a straight from the AQ hand.
Without folding I would have been severely crippled and forced to go all-in the next hand.
It's a tough decision. But with a raise and a re-raise in front I would consider AK a very speculative hand.
I lost my tournament just a few hands later as I raised pocket 77's and a big stack put me all-in with ... AK. I called and he caught an ace on the flop.
As always AK can be a great hand but you should be able to afford to play it.
