Growing up a White Sox fan, I was always happy when Wood or Prior went down with injuries. But only in a strictly superficial "I hate the Cubs" way. Deep down, it always disappointed me that two young studs were being wasted away.
One thing that always stuck out to me living in the Chicago area was Cubs fans jumping on Mark Prior as a "pussy" or a "baby" when he was scratched for starts. Wood was always a "gamer" and a "bulldog" because he went out and through like a man until his arm gave out. Well, look where both of them are now. Thanks to improper use, these guys will be fortunate to have meaningful major league careers. Plus you have Zambrano looking like he's going to have to go through something similar.
