Pretty sure you've got this backwards. I think most LHE-to-NL-converts here would tell you that their variance is actually LESS after they switched to NL.

I think he was talking about the fish, who do lose money quicker at NL than limit. Also, variance in NL is higher than at limit; the reason that winning players prefer NL (and experience less severe downswings) is that their edge in NL is significantly greater than in limit. Thus, a lot of variance in NL is absorbed in the "winning, but less than I should have" variety.
